Bio
Silkworm first started messing with music at the age of 14 when he got hold of the legendary Amiga tracker OctaMED bundled with a copy of Amiga Format. It was 1994; 909 percussion still sounded fresh, 303?s could be picked up for a couple of hundred quid and the computer demo scene was awash with rave music. Attempting to emulate banging techno and the atmosphere of the hardcore scene with 4 channels of 8 bit was a tough call, as artists like Aphrodite and Urban Shakedown had already managed to release classics using the same hardware.

Then, a man armed with a laptop showed him Fruityloops 3.5 and gradually the migration over to the PC was in full swing, although at this point, still making badly produced trance/techno and the odd drum and bass experiement.
By around 2005 he met John (Miszt), who was already thinking about putting on some kind of party and had already created the name “Misztifiedmind”. A succession of gigs ensued from small fields in the countryside to abandoned warehouses in the city, mostly concentrating on psychedelic trance and electro/tech house, although drum and bass was becoming an increasingly more predominant force.
From around 2009 the 4/4 based music had been pushed aside, labels like Shogun and Commercial Suicide were chucking out some amazingly produced d’n’b by artists such as Spectrasoul, Calibre, and Break confirmed the decision to focus on this style as producers.
As a DJ, Silkworm plays harder d’n’b, such as Black Sun Empire, Phace and Noisia to more techy orintated from the likes of Icicle, Nymfo or Break.
